### Bus or Metro?

When I first arrived in South Korea, I always spent the first few days wondering whether to take the bus or the subway to campus. It’s a real dilemma if you don’t live in the SNU dorms, which is why I want to help you decide which mode of transportation is best for you.

I know that if you live far from campus, deciding between the bus and the subway can be a challenge, so I’ll help you make that decision.

1. Bus Route

Believe it or not, the bus is actually the fastest way to get to the university. Without traffic, it takes about 55 minutes—that’s because the stops are easier to access and the bus travels faster without stopping. The downside is that during rush hour, the bus sometimes gets crowded because so many students take it. So, if you’re ever in a hurry and need to get there quickly, use the bus as your mode of transportation.

2. Metro Route

The subway is your most comfortable option if you don’t like standing; it takes a little longer, but it’s very convenient since you travel in comfort—mostly seated—and it’s not crowded. The only downside is that to get to the university by subway, you have to take the Silim line, and to reach it, you have to walk a bit and go down about five floors before you can board the shuttle bus. As I mentioned, this option takes longer—an average of 1 hour and 12 minutes, sometimes even longer. But if you’re someone who leaves at a reasonable time and has plenty of time to spare for the trip, then this is your ideal option.

It’s been a pleasure to help you, and I hope this helps you choose your preferred mode of transportation for coming to study at SNU.
